Leila Lopes From Angola crowned as Miss Universe 2011

The Miss universe title is one of the most coveted titles ever. It has long history  dating back 1952 when Armi Kuusela from Finland won the title. The pageant is an assemblage of some of the most beautiful and from diverse cultural ethnic backgrounds. It is a tall order deciding who deserves the crown and the judges are not to be envied in this respect.  This is because a great number of the ladies really deserve the crown at any contest. This year (2011) contest was won by Leila Lopes from Angola wins after gruelling contest.  The very first for an African since Mpule Kwelagobe won the title in 1999.
The 2011 pageant was held in the beautiful city of Sao Paulo. It featured 89 contestants from 89 countries.  The number was cut down to 16 beautiful ladies who were allowed to proceed to the next stage of the competition. They were contestants from Australia, Angola, Brazil, Colombia, China, Costa Rica, France, Kosovo, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Portugal, Panama, Ukraine Venezuela and the USA. At this round of the competition, the contestants wore bikinis and the judges cut down the number further down to 10 most elegant and beautiful ladies. Among these 10 gorgeous ladies  selected to wear the evening gown.  Luo Zilin of China was named  the 4th runner- up, Shamcey Supsup of Philipines 3rd runner-up, Priscila Machado from Brazil 2nd runner up, Olesya Stefanko of Ukraine 1st runner-up and Leila Lopes of Angola was crowned as the winner.
